Severe depression symptoms are sometimes hard to see, this possibly because people who are suffering with severe depression symptoms often withdraw themselves from friends and family.
Depression and Major Depression is a very serious medical condition. It is not ok to simply say to someone, snap out of it. People who are suffering from this debilitating disease would probably love nothing more than to wake up one morning and have everything seem better and not be depressed any more. Often people suffering with depression feel isolated and have a sense of hopelessness and helplessness. It can become all consuming and people who are suffering may want to just stay home and away from crowds and in a lot of cases they will withdraw socially and that may even include close family members. Depression and Major depression are a serious illness and people who are suffering will often need the support of loved ones, medical practitioners and councilors’ to help improve their situation.
Some people may misunderstand people suffering from depression, they may think that the person has become rude because they no longer go out or make contact with them, they may think that the person who is suffering from depression have stopped being their friend because they cannot concentrate on anything you are saying. This is not the case, it is because a person who has depression can’t communicate and may feel overwhelmed with everything and everyone around them.
While it is sometimes possible for people with depression to recovery very quickly without the need for medication it is not always the case and people who do have severe depression symptoms should immediately seek medical attention and help. In fact it is wise for anyone who is suffering from any form of depression be it mild or severe to seek medical help. There are so many well trained people out there who are ready and willing to help you. It is important to feel comfortable with your doctor or councilor, so if the first person you find to talk to is not really someone you feel you get with, you should keep trying and find someone who is more to your liking.
Everyone feels sad at some time or another and this does not necessarily mean that you are suffering from depression, everyone has ups and down and it is perfectly normal to feel sad for any number of different reasons. It is if you continue to feel sad for no reason for a period of time and the emptiness will not go away, or if you have very strong feelings of sadness for no particular reason you may have the symptoms’ for a depressive illness, either way you can and should seek help.
Sometime people who are suffering from this disease do not actually know they are, all they know is that they feel sad and perhaps lonely and misunderstood but do not really know why. Maybe they do not even feel sad, perhaps they just feel like they are completely alone and lifeless, they will often face feelings of nothingness, nothing really makes them feel happy or excited they may feel apathetic towards life and everything it entails.
Poor sleeping, lack of concentration, feeling sad constantly and maybe for no particular reason, gaining or losing weight are all signs of severe depression symptoms. Although these are some of the signs they are not all of them, and there is no reason why some people get different symptoms to other people. Maybe this is because everyone is different the symptoms and variations would be very different as well. Some other symptoms include feeling like a failure, feeling like everything is your fault and maybe even turning to alcohol and drugs to help make you feel better. Other people may feel tired all the time and feel like it’s too hard to cope with the housework and other simple chores, they can also feel frustrated and feel like everything is getting on top of them. These can be some of the warning signs that you or someone you know are suffering from a depressive illness.
If you or someone you know has any or all of these symptoms you should try and immediately seek medical help. There is no shame in admitting how you feel and although you may feel like it’s embarrassing, it is not. There are so many people who feel just like this. If you know someone who has any of these symptons, you should talk with them, let them know that no matter what they say you will not judge them. You should never encourage them to just ignore it and it will go away. The best thing you can do for someone who is suffering from any form of depression is encourage them to seek professional help.
